Remembering GL

Damn it seems everyone is posting memories from s1 and i felt i had to talk about the biggest thing for me from skate 1,Grand Larceny. man that vid was huge, like seriously its still the longest video in skate history (for now) and it meant and still does mean alot to me. it was the second full video id ever edited and i edited 95% of the parts in it. it was like my training school fro what we would be doing later with skate 2 and soon 3 and taught me some of the most important aspect of editing i know. pacing, enhancing each person style with the edit etc. its also one of my favorite videos from both games, not just because im involved with it, but because of all the effort that went into the video. all the unique styles that complimented each other which has only gotten greater as the Fam has gotten larger. it represents why we have lasted so long and why when you think of skate Hoodlum is the team you first think about.

Its so funny watching the vid nowadays as i remember all the highlights and problems we had during making the video. i mean this vid had things im still surprised we had MeanGoon actually getting a part in it, Demz joining the family and putting together a crazy part (to the joy of Pawnluv) geeze this vid had it all and did i mention its was A FUCKING HOUR LONG! deezam. i dont know im sorry for rambling but i just enjoyed the vid and it holds a place in my heart(gay) so to celebrate you get to watch my part from the vid and if your good maybe even the full vidyah.

it was nice to session and hear everyone go ape shit after they landed something...
its funny too cause someone would get something and we would all be in a order or attack..
immediatly after someone blurts out what he got there was this immediate sense of tension as you rolled up to a spot...
that tension was the want for aback to back sick ass doubles...
sometimes our sessions would get so out of control there would be like 4 tricks back to back that would destroy life...

everyone in the room hits start...

swappng cams to see if they could see what happened....
it was so fun to feel the gratification of a trick and having your posse right behind you while your doing it...

this later turned into magic or someone else streaming the sessions in live coffin cam...

its like the closest thing to a all out hoodlum family murder...

so fun..

its sad that the online replay was the reason this type of fun existed...
but again...
thats what makes it so nostalgic...
if we had it today it wouldnt be the same...
you wouldnt be able to see the details weve all learned to love because of the adv free...

its the one thing i still like about s1 besides a few spots...

in a manner that everyone could replay and enjoy...

i recently disputed my favorite s1 solo so i could get it back from copyright...

started filming back in march 08. finished by the end of april i believe it was. first one to finish filming as well. then volcom or ablindkid i cant remember. my first video that i actually took a good chunk of time to edit. finally june comes and people are still filming so i decided to make a re-edit of my part, ya know throw some new clips in here and there and with a diferent song. turned out my second edit was alot better then my first. here it is:

We started filming in fucking MARCH. I believe blackhawk was the first to finish filming? Either him or Holden (Who was Volcomston3d back then) and we ran at our own pace until about december 27th. We weren't even like.... fucking 80% done. We had to rush it before the demo dropped, and it wasn't the normal ol' whatever kind of rush. This was like... the most serious of any kind of SERIOUSNESS you could get out of a game. It was like.. shit.. This was more than just a game to us at that moment. It was like a fucking JOB with no pay. The benefits were the end result. To see that final page go up after EmmitBrown hooked up the flash portal. Everything was ready to go. We had the best presentation for a full length in OG skate. May not have been the best full length, but we damn sure did make it look pretty. Longest Full length in skate history (a whopping 62 minutes) Man.. We got fucking STRIPES off of GL, dude. It got a lot of hate, which ultimately bared its own truth. We had a GREAT video.

Well I've officially either ran into the business end of Karma's wrath... Or Lady Luck didn't appreciate my style... I believe it was both..

Not only was this one of the most depressing letdown kind of days I've been through this year but this day really opened up my eyes to a lot of shit.

#1 thing is.. We take things for granted, as well as people.. We really do and we should really realize what we got before we lose it or them.

#2 thing is.. Being prepared for the worst is almost essential. If not surely essential. But somethings you just can't control no matter how prepared you are.

Today.. EVERYTHING that could have gone wrong on the current scale of things.. went wrong.. I even broke my xbox controller so I won't be playing for awhile. I don't have any money to purchase a new one right now.. Yeah your boy is broke due to this new thing in my life called "bills".. It eats your money..

My best friend joined the navy and has been gone for just about a year maybe more. I was talkin to magic about how i spent my vacation, this came out on top and becos of that im postin this right now for anyone who might be interested ^^

First things first, Oerend Hard is a skateboardfestival, it lasts 3 days and its located near a lake on a downhill course. (it slopes down to the left on the pic)

The course consists of a snakerun, a downhill and some bumps and banks in the bottom part.

Now for the Oerend Hard part. It's a 3 day festival, nothin more than booze, girls, skatin, havin fun, contests and everything you want ^^ unfortunately the major contests on sunday were cancelled this year due to rain

People.. Just because we have 35 ACTIVE members, doesn't mean you slack on your activity. If anything, you work HARDER because there are so many of us.

I also want us to skate together even more. I know some of us can be annoying to others but at the end of the day. We're a team. Regardless if you're on a branch or not. We were Hoodlum Family as a whole before the branches, and we're Hoodlum Family as a whole even on our branches...

Once again I have to say I'm psyched to have Flixxx on the team. It's crazy to see him reppin Hoodlum, now. We got your back man. It's REALLY time to throw down harder than ever.

Including inactive members. We're 45 deep. Eflixxx is the 45th Current member of Hoodlum.

Not adding the 3 who are confused as to whether they're apart of the team or not (i really dont count them because they're lost in life)

I'm not even gonna get into the branch that hasnt even been made yet. That's gonna knock the team up from an active 35 to an active 40+.. making us a whopping 50+ deep team.

50 fucking people.. Now you can bitch, complain and cry about the numbers alllll you want. Ain't no denying we're the biggest team to hit this game. but while you're doing all the bitching and complaining.. think about how dope and fortunate we are to have 35+ people we can call our team member and still call ourselves a team after almost 2 years coming October 22nd. 35+ people we can play not just skate with, but multiple games with. I've gotten a group of people together to have fun. Regardless of what game we play. That alone, makes it all worth it when you bring people together to have fun.

Think about the way we've taken this team shit to a new level. Ain't no such thing as TOO big anymore. Sure.. not a lot of people would want a 50+ member team. But who can say they have one on skate? I salute teams regardless of their team member count. (Shouts out to AnimalMachine, Frequency, The Golden Standard, Recession Free, PKS that's STILL here. And last but DEFINITELY NOT LEAST.. Doppelganger. STILL HERE!!!! TOGETHER.. BANGIN!!!

I don't recruit for numbers. I'm also not afraid of the number anymore. I WILL however try to keep it at a minimum as much as I can but if the right skater comes along, i'll snatch him up. The "right" skater could mean anything. I won't say what but I will say I dig a fun person over skill any day.

Another thing you can't deny is our ridiculous ROBUST style spread. We have one if not THE most universal team on this game. You can't say we all skate the same. No 2 teams are alike. NO 2 TEAMS. You can't call us "robots". There is a style to suit every kind of person who watches our videos.

You got the ultra realistic..
You got the Realistic, but pushing the line, doing shit that makes you question its realism.
You got the "wild in your face"
You got the "FOR FUN" AND BANGING OUT, WITHOUTADOUBT, HIT And RUN kind of skaters.
You got the calm and mellow..
You got the RAW and LOUD..
You got the guys who just throw BANGER after BANGER.
You got the Seriously TECH-hit shit in ways you couldn't think of kind of skaters.
You got the MIXED guys who can play both sides of the fence with the skating..

And that can be just one of our teams at any given time :)

It goes on and on. You get my drift. We're like a one stop shop for all your viewing pleasures. Hahaha. That's what I wanted. I wanted a team that was well rounded and DOPE to whoever. We do this for us.. the props are an added bonus. Props are fun tho! :)

If you're a Hoodlum, you need to realize what you're taking on. You become 50+ people. You become the amount of people on your branch. You become apart of a group of people who love the hell out of this game and play the way they want no matter what people say. We've come a LONG way. We're just getting started tho :)

This is just an example of what I mean. No dis to Flying Seel. That's the homie.

Regardless of whether he said to remake the full, or just the banger, it was all done.

People always hollering about tricks being easy or fools not being able to re-do a trick or a part. NYC is the first person I've seen re-make a set video when "called" on it. This is what EVERYONE needs to do when they accuse someone of not being able to skate as "hard" or "good" as someone does. I myself go for shit that looks dope as hell and to make it look "raunchy" is difficult to me.

Something that is difficult to one person might be easy as hell for the other person to do. We set our own difficulties and we don't even know it. NYC stepped up and dropped one.

So the next time ANYBODY goes hollering that "you cant do this" stuff.. PUT UP OR SHUT UP!..

And I'm only speaking on the intent, regardless of who made the video.

I know if I ever said somebody's shit was too easy to do, I'll be supplying a video to back it up ;)

Oh and PS... I think I just thought of a new "series" of things to do.. Where we all make a vid, and try to copy the exact same video within a set time. Call it "Put Up"

first off im gonna go to the Amsterdamn Am, which is this big international am contest.

24-27 july

after that im leaving for Oerend Hard (which loosely translates as extremely fast), which is the biggest, bestest, mostest funnest, skateboard festival ever !! it basically comes down to alot of skateboard contests, alot of beer, alot of parties, etc. bout 500-600 skateboarders.
